Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS) announced the general availability of AWS Outposts in Philippines. AWS Outposts is a fully managed service that allows customers to run AWS infrastructure, AWS services, APIs, and tools in virtually any data center or co-location facility for a truly consistent hybrid experience. With AWS Outposts, customers can run AWS compute, storage, database, and other services locally and access the full range of services available in an AWS Region to build, manage, and scale their on-premises applications using familiar AWS services and tools.

AWS Outposts is ideal for customers that want a consistent AWS development experience across their entire IT infrastructure, but may have workloads that need to stay on-premises because of low-latency, local data processing, or data residency requirements. These include applications that may need to generate near real-time responses, communicate with other on-premises systems, or control on-site equipment such as machines on a factory floor, health management systems, financial transaction applications, or real-time gaming and video streaming. AWS Outposts also allows customers to more easily migrate to the cloud by segmenting parts of an application with local system interdependencies, such as connections to latency-sensitive internal systems that may be challenging to migrate all at once.

Once segmented, customers can focus on modernizing those application interdependencies on-premises and then complete their migration to the cloud when ready.

AWS Outposts is available as a 42U rack that can scale from 1 rack to 96 racks to create pools of compute and storage capacity. With AWS Outposts, customer can choose from a range of pre-validated configurations offering a mix of:

Designed to meet a variety of applications and data residency needs
  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)
  • Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS)
  • Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3)
Customers can then easily runs a broad range of service locally, including:
  • Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS)
  • Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)
  • Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS)
  • Amazon Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR)

With AWS Outposts, customers in the Philippines can also work with the AWS Partner Network (APN) to leverage their deep experience helping businesses move applications to AWS through all aspects of complex migration projects. These can include initial discovery and assessment, planning, migration, and
operations, as well as cloud strategy and technology advisory services to migrate and run workloads on AAAAWS Outposts.
